Vinyltrimethoxysilane, also known as silane coupling agent YDH-171, can be used as coupling agent for polymers such as polyethylene and polypropylene unsaturated polyester. It is commonly used in glass fiber, plastic, glass, cable, ceramics, rubber.

[Physical and chemical properties]

Vinyltrimethoxysilane is a colorless transparent liquid with ester taste. The boiling point is 123℃. The flash point is 25℃. The relative density was 0.89. The refractive index is 1.40 (25 ℃). It is soluble in ethanol, isopropanol, benzene, toluene and gasoline, insoluble in water. It is hydrolyzed and dissolved in water by mixing with aqueous solution of acid. It hydrolyzes slowly in the presence of water vapor in the air to form corresponding silanol.

[Preparation method]

(1) Trichlorosilane is heated and fed into acetyleneis, and it is made by addition reaction in liquid or gas phase. With the catalyst such as peroxide, tertiary amine or platinum salt is more effective.

(2) Vinyltrimethoxysilane was prepared by alcoholysis of vinyl trichlorosilane and methanol.

(3) Alkoxysilane is usually prepared by alkoxylation of chlorosilane. The reaction is easy to take place and does not need catalyst. However, it is required to effectively remove the hydrogen chloride produced in the reaction. In industrial production, it is better to use anhydrous hydrogen chloride discharge and recovery measures.

(4) Vinyltrimethoxysilane is synthesized from trimethoxysilane and acetylene in a yield of about 10%;
