The specific application of silane coupling agent in the adhesive industry has the following aspects:
1. Bonding of metal to non-metal in structural adhesives. If a silane-based tackifier is used, it can be condensed with the metal oxide or condensed with another silanol to bring the silicon atoms into close contact with the surface of the gel. If silane is added as a tackifier to the nitrile phenolic structural adhesive, the bonding strength can be significantly improved.
2. In the field of bonded glass fiber, silane has been widely used as a treatment agent. It chemically reacts with the interface to increase the bond strength. For example, if the chloroprene adhesive is not used as the treating agent, the peeling strength of the bonding is 1.07 kg/cm², and if the aminosilane is used as the treating agent, the peeling strength of the bonding is 8.7 kg/cm².
3. Silane tackifiers have special functions in the bonding of rubber to other materials. It significantly improves the bond strength of various rubbers with other materials. For example, when the glass is bonded to the urethane rubber, if the silane is not used as the treating agent, the peeling strength of the rubber is 0.224 kg/cm², and when the silane is added, the peeling strength is 7.26 kg/cm².
4 The bonding problem that could not be solved with a general adhesive can sometimes be solved with a
silane coupling agent. For example, aluminum and polyethylene, silicone rubber and metal, silicone rubber and plexiglass can select the correspondingsilane coupling agentsaccording to the chemical bond theory to obtain a satisfactory solution. For example, vinyl tributyl peroxide (Y-4310) can be used to bond polyethylene to aluminum foil; with butadiene-based triethoxysilane, the tear strength of silicone rubber and metal can reach 21.6~ 22.4 kg/cm². The use of a coupling agent in a general adhesive or resin not only improves the bonding strength, but also increases the water resistance and durability of the adhesive force. For example, polyurethane and epoxy resin have high adhesion to many materials, but the durability and water resistance of bonding are not ideal. But after addingsilane coupling agent, the performance can be significantly improved.
5. It can be used as an organic treatment in the production of electrolytic copper foil. That is, the silane coupling agent is uniformly sprayed on the surface of the copper foil to form an organic film, which further improves the oxidation resistance and the solder resistance, and also contributes to the adhesion of the copper foil to the substrate.
Other applications
Other aspects ofsilane coupling agentsinclude:
Attaching the immobilized enzyme to the surface of the glass substrate.
Sand prevention in oil well drilling.
Make the surface of the masonry water-repellent.
Through the anti-hygroscopic effect, the fluorescent lamp coating has a higher surface resistance.
Improve the hygroscopicity of the organic relative to the glass surface in the liquid chromatography column.
